The traditional horizontal scrolling website has become the standard, but that "normal" doesn't mean that you can't create visually compelling, information rich and meaningful experiences for users in a way that still allows designers to express themselves and the brand successfully.
Timeline is an open-source tool for building interactive timelines that may speak to the need to differentiate your digital design from the virtual horde of others on the Web. Using nothing more than a Google spreadsheet, the tool enables anyone to pull in media from sources including Twitter, Flickr, Google Maps, YouTube, Vimeo, Vine and others.
The tool was designed by former New York Times multimedia producer Zach Wise and the Knight News Innovation Lab. Over 30 languages are supported in the tool and the responsive timelines created are cross-device (mobile, tablet, desktop) compatible.
