BitNami, a division of BitRock, the creators of the leading cross-platform installation tool InstallBuilder Multiplatform Installer, has released Ubuntu-based virtual appliances that allow users to deploy ready-to-run virtual machine images of applications for CRM, bug tracking, document management, business intelligence and more.

BitNami simplifies the process of deploying web applications natively, virtually and in the cloud, and the new virtual appliances make it easy to deploy applications such as Drupal, Joomla!, Wordpress, Subversion, SugarCRM, Alfresco, and development environments such as LAMP and Ruby on Rails. They are available free of charge at BitNami.org.

The BitNami virtual appliances contain a minimal version of the Ubuntu Linux operating system and a fully installed and configured BitNami application stack. Users simply need to download, uncompress and run the appliance of their choice.

Using virtualized instances of the BitNami Stacks enables users to run the applications in an environment completely isolated from the rest of their system. The virtual machine images can be stopped and restarted on demand, so users can run applications only when they need them.
