Enterprise software provider Atlassian is looking to make its mark in the workplace communication category with the launch of Stride.
The new solution, which many are already positioning as a direct Slack competitor, offers features including video/audio conference calling, task management and app integrations that will not only help differentiate but also expand up on the success Atlassian has already with its team messaging tool HipChat. As you may remember, Atlassian acquired HipChat in 2012 as well as Trello, a project management product, for $425 million in Jan. 2017.
Stride will compete in a market that is already quite full and full with some rather notable names. Last October, Facebook released Workplace, a version of its social network designed for businesses, and Alphabet's Google followed suit with new enterprise features for its Hangouts product in February while Microsoft entered the space in March with the release of Teams.
