Twitter is making it easier for users to find new people and accounts to follow on its social network with the launch of its new "Connect" tab.
The Connect tab displays a detailed list of accounts that the social network thinks a user will be interested in and makes it easy for the user to take action to start following those accounts. According to Twitter, the follow recommendations are based on accounts the user already follows, Tweets the user likes, popular accounts in the user's local area, current events and more. The social network also notes that it will continue to refine its recommendations over time.
"Twitter connects you with the people you're interested in -whether that's someone across the world who shares your love for science-fiction, your friends and family, a politician, or your local sports team (go Warriors!). However, finding new accounts to follow used to require jumping through a few hoops and a dash of luck. That's why we've reimagined the experience with our new Connect tab," Twitter said in its announcement.
It is also important to note that the Connect tab makes it easier to connect with friends and family by giving users the ability to automatically sync their address book. Plus, if someone from a user's address book joins Twitter, the social network will notify the user.
The Connect tab is rolling out to everyone on Twitter for iOS and Android. Users will see a little blue prompt introducing the new tab when it's available to them.
