Social media is part of the digital fabric of our lives and the pace of adoption doesn't seem to be slowing down whatsoever.

Facebook's Instagram product, for which it paid $1 billion nearly two years ago, is highlighting its latest user number and by any and every measure, they are impressive.

The mobile-focused photo/video sharing platform now has a user base in excess of 200 million - 50 million of which have joined in the last six months. And those users are active... really, really active.

Over 20 billion photos have been shared (approximately 60 million each day) and those images and video generate over 1.6 billion likes each day.
