Social login provider Janrain has released data for Q3 2013 that reveals that the battle between identity providers is heating up.
Janrain found that Facebook continues to lead as the most popular identify provider, but its share dropped slightly to 45 percent. And who is causing that drop, and closing the gap? Google, of course. Despite Janrain's integration of Google+ Sign-in in April, Google's growth in this arena however is actually slowing (as seen in the chart below).
The company also shared some other interesting insights including that LinkedIn actually enjoys substantial popularity on websites that cater toward business professionals.
Janrain also indicated that they have observed disparate preference across geographic regions (Orkut is a popular social login preference in Brazil, Hyve is popular in the Netherlands) and industry - Amazon is actually doing quite well in the retail space.
