Consumer management solution provider Gigya released data last month from Q3 2013 (July to September) which revealed that while Google/Google+ is making some strong gains, Facebook is destroying the competition when it comes to social login.
While Google gained 2 percent in the share of logins among Gigya clients with 26 percent in the third quarter, Facebook held on to the majority with 51 percent. That difference only increases on mobile devices - 66 percent for Facebook and 20 percent for Google.
Gigya also indicated that when it came to ecommerce sites in particular, Facebook again dominated with 74 percent share in social logins. Google, again, made some gains since the second quarter. Also worthy of note for Internet retailers, PayPal secure two percent of logins - the first time it has registered over one percent, indicating that payment providers are slowly making strides as identity providers.
