There are millions of apps within the App Store and it's becoming increasingly difficult to find those worthy of download. AppXChange, however, is hoping its approach will provide a better way, adopting a more "social" approach on its recently launched app for iOS.
The AppXchange iOS app essentially curates app recommendations from celebrities and experts to help users break through the app clutter and find apps they would actually use. The app does this by analyzing an individual user's own current app installs to highlight what they are interested in, and matching them with people of similar interests. What results are "vetted" app recommendations. AppXchange users are invited to follow their selected experts to see what they are downloading and recommending, and then collect and share their own lists of favorites. Users can also curate their own lists, compare their installs to others, and share their recommendations on Facebook and Twitter.
"App discovery has become a major challenge for both consumers and developers. It's hard to find what you really want," says Joe Bayen, CEO of ICS Mobile. "AppXchange simplifies the frequent task of sifting through large category lists in the App Store to find great new content. Now users have a simple solution to discover what their friends and other experts are downloading. We've created a way to follow your favorite chef or author or musician to see what they download and where they get their information."
ICSmobile also developed FreeAppADay that boasts a 10 million strong user base.
