Website Magazine November 2008 Live

Just a quick note to Website Magazine readers. The November 2008 edition is now live online. The print magazine should be arriving this week (if it hasn't already) and the digital edition will be ready early this week as well. Thanks to all our advertisers and contributors who made this edition one of the best we've ever produced! Below you will find the Editor's Letter from the current issue:

When Website Magazine was launched three years ago, the Web was booming - experiencing what in hindsight might seem to some like a bubble reminiscent of the late 1990's and early 2000. The pace with which new websites came online was at hyper-speed in virtually all industries. Innovation was rapid thanks to programming languages like AJAX, the early formation of the cloud, and companies opening up their platforms and becoming "transparent." Investments were booming too, and venture capitalists could not keep their hands off anything with an API or a social focus.

How times have changed.

While we've seen better days, it's not all gloom and doom. What the current economic environment can provide is an opportunity to take a step back, gain a fresh perspective, and a chance to rethink our collective mistakes. Most importantly, we have an opportunity to establish a foothold in an industry that, while all those around you might be losing their heads (and shirts), shows no signs of slowing down. The Web might change in the years to come, but it's not going to implode.

Website Magazine has had one singular focus since its inception - to provide our readers with guidance that will shorten their road to Web success. We pride ourselves in not jumping on every bandwagon beta, not pursuing those without a genuine value proposition, and never covering rumors. The content in this edition - our third anniversary issue - again reflects that mission. Our feature article "FRESH Perspectives" gives subscribers (and those that happen to have it land on their desk or have it given to them by a friend or colleague) an opportunity to silence the noise by providing an outline of what is necessary to achieve success in Web marketing and specifically SEO. In addition to the feature article, we also have an amazing lineup of articles covering topics such as pay-per-click advertising, social computing, ecommerce, video, affiliate marketing, domains and as always, much, much more in the print edition you are reading now and within the digital edition available at WebsiteMagazine.com.

Best Web Wishes,
Peter Prestipino- Editor in Chief
