Product recommendations - people who liked this also liked this or you recently viewed - have been a go-to strategy for ecommerce retailers for quite some time but their huge impact on sales and even time on site is worth repeating.
When Toad&Co (an omnichannel retailer of men's and women's apparel) went from static, hand-curated product recommendations to recommendations powered by Listrak Recommender - in order to scale out the process and remove the guesswork of product selection - it saw tremendous results including a 123.3 percent higher conversion rate for those who clicked on a recommendation versus those who did not.
Additionally, Listrak's research of visitor behavior over six months on Toad&Co's site found that the average duration of a session with a recommendations click was 144.3 percent higher than a session without. There was also a 160.1 percent higher average pages per session and a 16.9 percent higher average order value.
"Seeing that visitors who engage with recommendations are pre-disposed to engaging, buying and spending more proves to us that recommendations are an important tool for providing an improved online experience," said Ian Jordan, platform/UX manager at Toad&Co.
