The economic recovery might be slow but at least one sector is adding jobs at a respectable rate. Internet media companies and Web portals have added 14,300 jobs since the recession began, according to Ad Age DataCenter's analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data. All told, these companies account for a sizable 12 percent of U.S. media employment. Showing gains over the past year, ad agencies added 2,600 jobs and marketing consulting has seen an addition of 1,200 jobs.
Another sign of recovery and progress in the online world comes from eMarketer. They estimate that, for the first time ever, online ad spending will surpass that of print ads in newspapers. Total online ad spend is predicted to hit $25.8 billion this year.
