If you aren't on the first page of Google search results (and in the first position) you might as well be somewhere else entirely.
A new report from Chitika shows that sites on the first Google search results page generate 92% of all traffic from an average search. What's more, the first position on any page of results contributed to more traffic than the second position in each respective page (i.e. traffic from users dropped by 27%, 11.3%, and 5.4% from the first position to second position in page two, three, and four).
This was the first time in just over three years since the last Chitika Insights' report in May 2010. Obviously a great deal has changed since then but it seems one thing remains constant - the first page and the first result still remains the most coveted position.
