AE Innovations, a Canadian electronics designer, has created a helmet that converts your words into droid speak - the whirring and beeping as heard from R2D2 and BB8.
The helmet, of course, doesn't really translate anything. The throat mic simply detects when the user is speaking and the devices emits a series of beeps and clicks that sound like droid.
What's really, incredibly cool about it is that if someone else has a helmet, it is possible to chat through the helmets like they are walkie-talkies but noone else will be able to hear what is actually being said.
AE Innovations posted his development process, the components/audio files/images he used and his schematics on Hackster. A demonstration of the Droid Translator Helments is available here.
