Creativity is an important element in all business, but it's not something that can be manufactured. Luckily, there are steps enterprises can take to inspire their employees to be more innovative and productive.
From sprucing up the office with bright colors and open work spaces to offering perks to keep employee morale up, there are countless ways enterprises can maintain an office that is conducive to creativity.
Check out three offices that put creativity in the forefront on their business model (and offices) below:
Creative minds should have no problem thriving while working at Airbnb's San Francisco office, as the company offers unique and open workspaces. The office was designed by Gensler, and the design of each room was inspired by an Airbnb listing.
In addition to an aesthetically appealing office, Airbnb also helps employees foster creativity by keeping them happy both inside and outside the office. For instance, the company provides employees with daily meals and snacks, travel stipends, offers parental leave and personal time off. This editor's favorite part of Airbnb's unique and innovative office, however, is that it is dog-friendly.
Taboola drives productivity and creativity by offering employees a colorful and open working environment. In addition, the company's new office in New York features a large working area and several small "huddle" rooms. According to Founder and CEO Adam Singolda, this setup leads people to move throughout the office during the day and interact with their colleagues.
Aside from office design, Taboola also encourages creativity among employees with team meetings, as all employees who are in an office gather together on the last day of the week to talk about successes and failures. Moreover, all Taboola employees come together to celebrate achievements.
"When Taboolars achieve something exciting such as a new sale, partnership, or account upsold - we make a lot of noise by ringing a gold bell in the middle of our office to share the news, and celebrate with the entire team because somebody in the room might have a unique idea about it," said Singolda.
It is no surprise that Google offers a creative environment and a lot of perks to its employees - after all, innovation is at the core of Google's business model. According to Google, the company's unique offices and cafes are designed to encourage interactions between employees. Moreover, each office has its own unique design and features. For instance, the company's Mountain View office features a bowling alley, while the Zurich, Switzerland office provides "meeting eggs" to help teams get their creative juices flowing.
In addition to these unique office spaces, Google also offers many other perks to keep its employees healthy and happy in both their professional and personal lives, including on-site physicians, travel insurance (even for personal vacations), time off and extra money for new parents as well as reimbursement to employees for classes or degree programs.
