Back in May, Foursquare made some pretty big changes to its platform, as the company announced that it was essentially splitting its business into two separate apps.

Through these changes, Foursquare noted that it intended to revamp its original app to focus on discovery, while the company's new app, dubbed Swarm, would aim to connect users with their friends. While Swarm was launched shortly after Foursquare's announcement, the company is now finally giving a preview of its revamped discovery app.

According to the company, the new Foursquare app will be focused on personalization and will be rolling out within the next couple weeks. To prepare for the new app, Foursquare is moving all check-ins, including past check-ins, to Swarm. Moreover, Foursquare is introducing a new logo for its revamped app, changing its logo from the check-in checkmark to something that better represents the new app.

"We designed it to be a mix of map pin and superhero emblem," Foursquare states in a blog post. "We've always thought of Foursquare as giving you superpowers to explore your city, and our new logo reflects that vision."

In addition to unveiling its new logo, Foursquare is also giving a preview of its new app that is expected to launch in a couple of weeks. According to the company, the revamped app will be tailored to each user, which means that no two people will have the same experience with the app. To personalize the app, users simply need to share their preferences on the platform, follow experts or just walk around for a few days in order for the app to create a unique experience.

"This is the beginning of the 'personalized local search' future we've been talking about since we started Foursquare. It's been built with the help of our amazing 50,000,000-strong community, with all your tips, check-ins, photos, and the smarts we layered on top of that," the company blog post states. "Those of you (that) have been with us since the beginning, your check-ins and history will continue to help shape your recommendations. For those of you giving us a try for the first time - you still get all the benefits of a better way to explore any neighborhood, no check-ins required."
