Colocation America Begins IPv6

Colocation and dedicated server provider Colocation America announced an initiative to provide the IPv6 Internet protocol. 

 

The most notable change between IPv4 and IPv6 is the actual address. An IPv4 address was composed of 32 bits [4 bytes], which was portioned between network and host. The new IPv6 address is now 128 bits long [16 bytes], with the host portion being derived from a MAC address.

 

In conjunction with a larger address space, IPv6 simplifies routing, better supports security and is easily compatible with mobile applications. The operation of these new services and devices has quickly sped up with the adaption of this protocol by thriving and emerging economies.
