As the world will see over the next few months, ecommerce is thriving, but what will consumers expect this holiday from their digital experience?
MarketLive released the results from its 7th Annual Holiday research Study and it reveals what shoppers are expecting from Internet retailers during the holiday season.
The survey found that 78 percent of shoppers are likely to visit a store as result of a text promotion (or alert via mobile device), 56 percent will look for gift ideas on social sites link Pinterest, and 55 percent are now comfortable with sharing their preferences with retailers in exchange for convenience and personalized product recommendations.
MarketLive's annual study also reveals how the "always-on" mobile trend is changing the retail purchase habits of consumers (89 percent, for example, want the ability to buy online and then pick up in-store), reveals that the role of social networks is really about gift discovery rather than direct purchase, and shows how product recommendations will be of the greatest importance this holiday.
The survey found that tracking shoppers' preferences and serving recommendations on related products is perceived by consumers as welcome as its both efficient and convenient.
