Google announced today that it has begun automatically converting Adobe Flash ads to HTML5, providing digital advertisers an opportunity to target users that don't have a device or browser that supports Flash.
Google has, for several months, served HTML5 backups in instances when Flash was not supported on user devices (this is really targeted to mobile). Now, however, Google will automatically convert eligible Flash campaigns to HTML5 on both new and existing campaigns. All the advertiser has to do is simply upload their ads through AdWords, AdWords Editor, or one of the many third-party tools that work with its ad platform.
Google did indicate that not all Flash ads can be converted to HTML5, recommending its Swiffy tool to see whether those Flash ads can be converted.
